Flashback: Week 1 Winternationals 2018

Cameron, Wisconsin’s Kevin “Buzzy” Adams won the opening night feature to kick off the 42nd Annual Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park. Winning heats were Kevin Adams (Cameron, WI), Bryan Bernhardt (Clearwater, FL), Kyle Bronson (Brandon, FL), KC Burdette (Parkersburg, WV), and David Pollen, Jr. (Tampa, FL). Burdette was also Quick Time for the night.
In the Street Stocks 15-lap feature, Plant City’s Tim Gay prevailed. Tim Powers of Okeechobee and Zack Amundsen of Lithia won their heats.

January 25, 2018

Shane Burrows of Valrico, Florida, captured an emotional win in Modified racing, dedicating the victory to his late father.
Kevin Adams was Fast Qualifier and heats were won by Shon Flannery, Kyle Bronson, Mike Potosky, Phillip Cobb and Devin Gilpin. Two B-Mains brought victory to Tyler Nicely and Lucas Lee.
Zach Amundsen scored the Street Stock win in the 15-lap main, rebounding from a disappointing 18th place in the opener.

Mooresville, NC speedster Kyle Strickler “The High Side Tickler” won the 30-lap A-Main by a margin of nearly three seconds.
Heats were won by Eric Moon, Roger Crouse, Mike Potosky, Kenny Wallace and Ivedent Lloyd, Jr.. Winning the B-Mains were Phillip Cobb and Mark Whitener.
With the completion of the third night of racing, the top six in accumulated points were locked into the 75-lap finale. Guaranteed spots went to Kevin Adams, Mark Whitener, Bryan Bernhardt, Shane Burrows, Jeff Mathews and Lucas Lee.
Tim Gay picked up his second Street Stock feature of Winternationals competition.

Mark Whitener held off opening night feature winner Kevin Adams to claim the final night of Modified racing. With a few laps to go, Adams would keep trying on the high side to no avail. Whitener said in victory lane that he hadn’t run very many modified races over the past few years, but to come here and beat some of the best who do this for a living and travel all over is a big deal.
Winning their heats were Phillip Cobb, Travis Varnadore, Devin Gilpin and Kyle Bronson. Winning their B-Mains were Eric Moon and Thursday night A-main winner Kyle Strickler.
Tim Gay closed his Winternationals run the way it started with a victory in Street Stocks. It was Gay’s third win in four tries.
